Indonesian Embassy Held Consular And Labour Services In Kuala Belait

 

Kuala Belait, Brunei Darussalam – On 2-3 March 2024 the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan held a Consular and Labour Services, as well as BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Membership Registration at the Swiss Hotel, Kuala Belait, Brunei Darussalam.

The activity, which lasted for two days, was attended around 200 Indonesian Citizens/Indonesian Migrant Workers who live in the Belait district, Brunei Darussalam with various needs such as renew passports and other consular documents, as well as registering for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership.

Simultaneously with this activity, the Indonesian Labor Attaché for Brunei Darussalam also held a Free Medical Check program, which included checking blood sugar levels, uric acid, cholesterol and blood pressure.

The results of the examination can be immediately known and consulted with a doctor; and if necessary, doctors will provide them with medicine and vitamins according to the results of their examinations for free. This program was certainly advantageous for both Indonesian Citizens/Indonesian Migrant Workers in Belait District especially those who have limitations in having regular medical checks.

On March 2 2024 at 19.30, the Indonesian Embassy held a BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Membership Socialization and Tutorial on using the application of Portal Peduli WNI. At the opening of the socialization, the Chargé d'Affairs Ad Interim of the Republic of Indonesia, Irwan Iding conveyed about “The importance of Indonesian Citizens/Indonesian Migrant Workers reporting themselves on the application of Portal Peduli WNI, and join with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership for their prominent protection as a migrant worker”.

During a hybrid discussion between the participants and Annisa Kusumawardhani, Relationship Manager from the headquarters of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in Jakarta, emphasize the focused on the importance of Indonesian Migrant Workers participation in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan to protect them from employment risks that could arise suddenly in the future.

The protection itself includes Jaminan Kecelakaan Kerja (JKK) and Jaminan Kematian (JKM) which are mandatory based on PERMENAKER No. 4 of 2023; as well as optional of Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT). In the discussion, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan also mentioned that BPJS had an increase in benefits from 14 benefits in 2017-2022 to 21 benefits in 2023 with fixed annual fee/contributions.

The Socialization of the Tutorial on Using the Application of Portal Peduli WNI demonstrate the procedures of reporting of their arrivals, changing addresses, and departure back for good to their hometown in Indonesia.

The socialization participants took part in the activities with an enthusiastic and active manners. Both of Indonesian Citizens and Indonesia Migrant Workers in Belait district expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the integrated services provided by the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan.
